Men’s Cross-Country

Nino Schurter (Switzerland) rode away from the leaders in the closing laps to take the victory. He was joined at the front by Jaroslav Kulhavy (Czech Republic) and Carlos Coloma (Spain), but Coloma fell back behind the pair, instead battling with Maxime Marotte (France). A flat tyre punctured the dreams of Peter Sagan (Slovakia) at the beginning of the second lap.

Women’s Cross Country

The early lead was held by Linda Indergrand (Switzerland), ahead of Maja Wloszczowksa (Poland), Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) and Jenny Rissveds (Sweden). On lap two though, Indergrand went backwards, with Neff trying to keep up with Rissveds. Catharine Pendrel (Canada) and Emily Batty (Canada) began to catch up with Neff, who struggled after going with Rissveds. On the final lap, Rissveds extended her advantage over Wloszczowska, through the technical sections and went on to take gold.
