Women’s Tournament
Japan started with a big win over Australia, whilst Canada beat Mexico. In the second set of fixtures, Japan and the United States edged Mexico and Canada respectively. In the third set of fixtures, Canada beat Australia cementing their status as the tournament's third-best team. The United States beat Mexico and Japan edged Canada in the fourth round of fixtures. The final round of fixtures saw the top two, middle two and bottom two all clash. The United States beat Japan in the final group stage match and hoped to carry that momentum into the final. Canada beat Italy and Mexico beat Australia to reach to the bronze medal match. In the bronze medal match, Canada confirmed their previous form by defeating Mexico 3-2. In the final, it was the opposite with Japan rising to the occasion and winning 2-0 to seal gold. Yu Yamamato and Yamato Fujita were the two to get home, in the fourth and fifth innings to seal the medal.
