Men’s Event
No big team was knocked out in the group stages but Ahman/Hellvig (Sweden) and George/Andre (Brazil) only went through as lucky losers. In the round of sixteen, the Brazilian pair went out to Ehlers/Wickler (Germany) whilst Perusic/Schweiner (Czech Republic) lost to Boermans/De Groot (Netherlands). Sweden and Germany would move through to the semi-finals in straight sets. Mol/Sorum (Norway) also went through in straight sets with the final spot in the semi-final being filled by Cherif/Ahmed (Qatar). The Swedes would again win in straight sets. Germany would top Norway 15-13 in a third set. In the final, Sweden was dominant with Germany making too many unforced errors to compete. Norway won bronze in quite a comfortable victory.
🥇David Ahman/Jonatan Hellvig 🇸🇪
🥈Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler 🇩🇪
🥉Anders Mol/Christian Sorum 🇳🇴
My prediction went out the window as Brazil drew Germany in the round of sixteen. The injury of Mol/Sorum put me off.
Women’s Event
Ludwig/Lippmann (Germany) going out in the group stage was the biggest surprise. Nuss/Kloth (United States) were upset in the round of sixteen, beaten in straight sets by Humana Paredes/Wilkerson (Canada). Perhaps the most dramatic game saw Graudina/Kravcenkova (Latvia) beat Muller/Tillmann (Germany). They shared sets before the Latvians won 18-16 in the decider. Huberli/Betschart (Switzerland) upset Hughes/Cheng in straight sets in the quarter-final, confirming this to be the first Olympics since 2000 with no American medalists. Ana Patricia/Duda (Brazil) made the semi-finals without dropping a set and they were joined by Artacho Del Soler/Clancy (Australia) and Humana-Paredes/Wilkerson (Canada). Both of the finalists came from a set down in the semi as Brazil and Canada got to the final. In the final, Brazil would take the victory two sets to one.

🥉Tanja Huberli/Nina Betschart 🇨🇭
This was stronger. I had the three medalists as part of my final four but predicted America, partially based on their strong history in this event.
