Trampoline 2016 Rio Olympic Review

Men’s Trampoline

Qualification was mainly about the voluntary portion of the event as the top eight in that qualified for the final. That meant Blake Gaudry (Australia) missed out on the final, despite the fourth-highest compulsory score. Gao Lei (China) led by a point and a half to Uladzislau Hancharou (Belarus). In the final, it was the consistency of Hancharou that got the win. The greatest difficulty and flight went to Gao Lei, but his execution let him down so he could only finish bronze. Instead, it was compatriot Dong Dong (China) who snuck in for the silver medal.

Women’s Trampoline

Adversely to the male competition, it was the top eight in the compulsory section who qualified for the final. Li Dan (China) scored the highest in that section but a higher voluntary score saw Tatsiana Piatrenia (Belarus) top the qualification standings. He Wenna (China) had the highest difficulty and flight score in the final, the execution by Bryony Page (Great Britain). Neither of those put the trio together though, instead, Rosannagh MacLennan (Canada) would take the gold medal by over 0.4 from Page. Wenna would not even get a medal finishing behind compatriot Li Dan.
