Men’s event

Qualification was close between the two Belarusian jumpers. Ivan Litvinovich (Belarus) led on 113.555 ahead of Uladzislau Hancharou (Belarus) looking to defend his 2016 title. I’m the final, Dmitrii Ushakov (Russia) set the early standard but Dong Dong scored 61.235 to take the lead. Dylan Schmidt (New Zealand) put himself in second with 60.675. Hancharou could only score 60.565 leaving the pressure on his teammate. He handled it, scoring 61.715 to take gold.

Women’s event

Liu Lingling (China) scored 105.470 to lead the qualification event ahead of compatriot Zhu Xueying (China). Bryony Page (Great Britain) and Rosannagh MacLennan (Canada) were her closest competitors. Hikaru Mori (Japan) crashed in the qualifying, missing out on the final. Once the final began, Nicole Ahsinger (United States) was the first to lay down a number scoring 54.350. Megu Uyama (Japan) would go ahead with a 54.655. MacLennan would do her best run of the day in the final and scored 55.460. Page would go ahead of the Canadian with a score of 55.735, guaranteeing herself a medal. Xueying continued the pattern by then going into first with a 56.635. Her compatriot was the only one who could possibly beat her and Lingling scored 56.350.
